Frankfort, KY – Kentuckians are mobilizing for a historic march down Capital Avenue to the Kentucky State Capitol on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 – the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination.
The non-partisan March to Move objectives are:
Reflect upon the impact that Dr. King’s life has had upon the Commonwealth and the nation;
Amplify the voices of groups that have not been heard in recent legislative cycles on issues such as education, healthcare, pensions, labor, safe thriving communities and voting rights and
Connectpeople to groups that are committed to democracy (ie. voting in the best interest of The People).
As the lead sponsor, the People’s Campaign has issued a rallying cry emphasizing the power and promise of the vote. In its hashtag #VOTE4US, The People’s Campaign calls on the power of collective participation to move democracy forward. As the state’s highest election official, Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes has joined the MLK Memorial March as the lead co-sponsor.
